THE CHEVROLET DETROIT GRAND PRIX PRESENTED BY LEAR PRODUCES STRONG RESULTS IN 2026

In its fourth year back on the Streets of Downtown Detroit, the 2026 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear delivered impressive results across the board as the event continued to raise the bar even higher during a memorable May 29-31 race weekend.

ATTENDANCE & EVENT RESULTS

  • Approximately 156,000 attendees over three days, matching the event’s highest total since returning downtown.

  • Sunday grandstands and pit lane suites sold out.

  • Record concession and merchandise sales.

BROADCAST

  • 1.17 million average viewers for Sunday’s INDYCAR race across FOX and FOX streaming services.

  • Race viewership increased 10% over 2025.

  • More than 343,000 average viewers for qualifying on FS1, the season’s highest-rated INDYCAR qualifying broadcast outside the Indianapolis 500.

RACING HIGHLIGHTS

  • General Motors' hometown brands swept the IMSA classes in the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship raceas Cadillac’s No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R, driven by Jack Aitken and Earl Bamber, claimed the GTP victory for Cadillac’s first hometown win since 2022.

  • Antonio Garcia and Alexander Sims delivered Corvette’s first Detroit win since 2008 with a GTD PRO class triumph in the No. 3 Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports Corvette Z06 GT3.R.

  • Racing royalty returned to Victory Lane in Detroit as Enzo Fittipaldi captured his second INDY NXT by Firestone win, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, two-time Detroit winner and motorsports legend Emerson Fittipaldi.

  • Alex Palou won the NTT INDYCAR SERIES Chevrolet INDYCAR Grand Prix race from the pole.

  • The 100-lap race produced 173 on-track passes, the most on an INDYCAR street circuit in 2026.

SOCIAL MEDIA

  • More than 40 million in total social media reach during race week.

  • More than 9 million video plays across Grand Prix channels during race weekend, up 25% from 2025.

  • Instagram added more than 5,000 followers in May, including more than 3,000 during race weekend.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

  • The PwC Grand Prixmiere presented by Chevrolet raised more than $1.2 million for five Detroit-area nonprofits.
  • More than $10 million has been raised for local charities since 2014.

With fans traveling from across the United States as well as Canada and from across the globe, the Grand Prix provides a great opportunity for Detroit to shine and showcase all that it has to offer.
