The Grand Prix is Community Driven
With the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear’s return to its original home on the Streets of Detroit, the event has become even more connected and engaged with the neighborhoods and communities across the city than ever before. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and a subsidiary of the Downtown Detroit Partnership, the Grand Prix has a tradition of community engagement. With the generous support of its key Community Partners at American Axle Manufacturing, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Delta Dental, Delta Airlines, DTE Foundation, Henry Ford Health, Huntington Bank and PNC Bank, the event has opened its arms even wider to the community since its return to Downtown Detroit in 2023.
The Grand Prix is truly one of the most inclusive and welcoming annual events across the State of Michigan. Once again in 2025, more than half of the Grand Prix venue is open and available to fans for free all weekend long. From the free viewing platforms along Jefferson Avenue to the Meijer Fan Zone down Woodward Avenue, the activation in Hart Plaza and the beautiful Detroit Riverwalk, fans can be a part of the event and access areas all around the Grand Prix track completely free of charge. Campus Martius Park and Cadillac Square will also be open and accessible to fans all weekend long, once again featuring the unique Small Business Straightaway – highlighting locally-owned businesses from across the different districts in Detroit – on Woodward Avenue. The Grand Prix is able to offer these unique complimentary viewing options and engagement opportunities thanks to the support of its dedicated Community Partners.
The Grand Prix is also proud of the opportunities it creates for local students, artists and businesses to shine during one of Detroit’s most popular summertime festivals. For the 13th consecutive year, the Grand Prix has worked with the talented students at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit to create the official commemorative event poster. We hope you enjoy this year’s poster design created by CCS sophomore Eli Archer, a unique design that features a young Detroit resident roller skating on the Grand Prix street circuit while the racing activities bring the city to life around her. For the third consecutive year, we are also excited to showcase digital mural designs created by the young students at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan (BGCSM), proudly displayed on the track barrier walls in front of the viewing platforms on Jefferson Avenue. In 2025, the Grand Prix has expanded its partnership with BGCSM to create a Correspondent Industry Club offering a select group of students the opportunity to learn about media arts, public relations, marketing and more while getting real world experience in all of these areas through the Grand Prix.
The Grand Prix is also proud to continue its tradition of community giveback in its downtown home. The Grand Prix will continue to expand its charitable outreach in 2025 and beyond. Friday night’s PwC Grand Prixmiere presented by Chevrolet gala will help raise several hundred thousand dollars to benefit several important local non-profit organizations including the Belle Isle Conservancy, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan, Detroit 300 Conservancy, the Detroit Public Safety Foundation and the Pope Francis Center in Detroit.
The Grand Prix continues to establish itself as one of the most sustainable events in Michigan. With impactful environmentally friendly initiatives – including comprehensive recycling and waste diversion programs to go along with unique community engagement and enhancement opportunities – the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear became the first event in Michigan and the first motorsports event worldwide to achieve Gold level certification from the Council for Responsible Sport in 2023 and the event reached Gold status again in 2024. The event will look to raise the bar even higher this year as the Grand Prix continues to deepen its community connection.
